The Dutch Baby: A Fluffy, Crispy Treat
Imagine a cross between a pancake and an omelet, but with a crispy exterior and a fluffy, airy interior. That’s a Dutch Baby, a beloved German-American dish that’s sure to delight your taste buds. This unique dish is baked in a cast-iron skillet, giving it a distinctive golden-brown crust.
When served as a dessert, the Dutch Baby is spritzed with lemon and dusted with powdered sugar. For breakfast, the options are a wide as your imagination! While we use ham, swiss, and chives for ours most of the time, we’ve also baked apples and ham and put that on top. One of our favorites is topping them with smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, and pickled red onions. See, we told you the options were endless!
