Policies

If you have questions about our B&B accommodations, please review the following policies for information regarding reservations, cancellations, breakfast, smoking, and more, when planning your stay at Aldrich Guest House, Galena, Illinois.

But first, the stuff that we shouldn’t have to say but unfortunately do: Please note that violation of policies will result in cancellation of your reservation and removal from the property without refund. Any damages will be charged to the card on file. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, on to the fun stuff!

WHEN IS CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT?

Normal guest check-in is at 3:00 p.m. (sometimes earlier – if we can flip your room sooner). Check-out is any time before 11am on the day of your departure.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

Feel free to park on either side of the street in front of the house. Please avoid parking in the driveway or in the pad at the end of the street as that is the neighbor’s driveway.

DO YOU TAKE A DEPOSIT?

Just like when reserving a seat at a theater or on a plane, when you book a room, we hold it specifically for you. Unlike large hotels, we do not oversell our rooms. With this in mind, reservations are charged 50% at the time of booking and the remainder on the day of departure.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

Best Available Rate Reservations

Regardless of the reason for cancellation, shortening of reservation, moving reservation dates, or early departure: Single room reservations are non-refundable/non-changeable within 14 days of arrival. Group reservations, full-house bookings, and multiple rooms traveling together are non-refundable/non-changeable within 30 days of arrival. Cancelling a reservation or shortening a stay prior to the 14 days (or 30-day period) will be refunded the full amount less a $25 processing fee per room. Bookings for special events are non-refundable regardless of when a cancellation occurs.

  • This cancellation policy also applies to reservations canceled due to weather.
  • If you are concerned that you may not be able to make your trip for any reason or just want a little extra peace of mind, we suggest you book your stay using our “Peace of Mind” rates or purchase our cancellation insurance.
  • If cancellation is due to official travel restrictions issued by federal, state, or local government, we will issue a Credit Voucher to be used within 4 months of the issue date.

Peace of Mind Rate Reservations (or those who purchased our Cancellation Insurance)

Regardless of the reason for cancellation, shortening of reservation, moving reservation dates, or early departure: Single room reservations are non-refundable/non-changeable within 72 hours of arrival. Group reservations, full-house bookings, and multiple rooms traveling together are non-refundable/non-changeable within 14 days of arrival. Cancelling a reservation or shortening a stay prior to the 72 hours or 14-day period will be refunded the full amount less a $25 processing fee per room. Bookings for special events are non-refundable regardless of when a cancellation occurs.

  • This cancellation policy also applies to reservations canceled due to weather.
  • If cancellation is due to official travel restrictions issued by federal, state, or local government, we will issue a Credit Voucher to be used within 4 months of the issue date.

DOES THE CANCELLATION POLICY APPLY TO CANCELLATIONS DUE TO COVID-19?

Yes, as Covid-19 is now a well-known risk to travel, the above cancellation policy is in effect. We suggest all guests book their stay with our cancellation insurance.

ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED?

Due to our cannabis policy, all guests must be 21 years of age or older.

WHAT IS BREAKFAST LIKE?

Breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m. in the dining room and will include a variety of seasonal offerings. It is a full, hot breakfast, and you will not leave the table hungry!

Weather permitting, we can serve breakfast on the screened-in porch where the tables can be spaced for a more intimate dining experience.

DO I HAVE TO EAT IN THE DINING ROOM?

For those guests who prefer to have a private dining experience, we offer in-room breakfast for $25 per day. This will be served between 8.30am and 8.45am.

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?

With advance notice, we are more than happy to accommodate most dietary restrictions or food sensitivities.

CAN I BRING MY PET?

For the comfort and safety of all our guests, pets are not allowed. We are happy to recommend local kenneling services if you should need that.

IS SMOKING ALLOWED?

Illinois regulations stipulate that smoking of any sort is not allowed anywhere indoors, inside The Potting Shed, or on the screened-in porch. Smoking is prohibited within 15 feet of windows or doors. Smoking is allowed on the patio next to The Potting Shed.

WHAT IF I CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PROPERTY?

Guests are responsible for all damage to the property that is deemed outside of normal wear and use. While it is understood that occasional accidents do happen, it is the responsibility of our guests to use items in a manner that is consistent with proper use and handling of such items. Should the damage affect the property’s ability to rent any room in the future, guests will be financially responsible for any future loss of business as well. 

WHAT IS YOUR DIVERSITY POLICY?

We welcome visitors of all race, creed, color, age, gender, religions, ethnic heritage and sexual orientation.

IS THERE AN EXCESSIVE CLEANING FEE?

Any excessive cleaning required upon guest departure will result in a minimum cleaning fee of $100, plus an additional charge of $60/staff hour. Our expectation is that guests will leave the property in the same condition it was in upon arrival.

DO YOU HAVE MINIMUM STAY REQUIREMENTS?

There are very few minimum night stay requirements. Dates where we have a minimum night stay requirement are clearly noted within our booking engine.

DO YOU OFFER VARIABLE RATES?

Like most lodging properties, we adjust our rates daily to reflect the demand for the property. Peak rates are generally during the summer, on weekends, holidays and special events.

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE GUESTS WITH MOBILITY ISSUES?

All of our guest rooms are on the second floor of the property. These conditions may make the property inaccessible to some guests with moderate to severe mobility issues. We apologize if this creates a limitation for any prospective guest.

ARE YOU CANNABIS FRIENDLY?

Yes. Like many lodging properties, guests can consume cannabis-based products in the privacy of their room or smoke cannabis in outside designated smoking areas. There is no smoking of any sort allowed within any of our buildings.
